Tool Repair and Maintenance Technician

Our client, a growing plastics manufacturing company located in Rochester Hills, is seeking a Tool Repair and Maintenance Technician.  The Tool Repair and Maintenance Technician is key to maintaining high-quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repair, and visual evaluation.  The Tool Repair and Maintenance Technician will report to the Molding Department Manager. 

Pay range for the Tool Repair and Maintenance Technician is $41,600 to $60,320 per year, based on experience.  Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with overtime during peak periods.

This is a Direct-Hire opportunity.

Tool Repair and Maintenance Technician Job Duties:

  • Read and understand tooling work orders
  • Responsible for the correct disassembly and assembly of molds
  • Clean molds and assist maintenance technicians as needed
  • Utilize measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gage and bore micrometers
  • Assist in inventory control
  • Maintain all tools and equipment that are used including the daily cleaning of tool room machinery
  • Maintain maintenance records on the computer system
  • Work with process engineers to troubleshoot issues with tool or improve on

Tool Repair and Maintenance Technician Job Requirements:

  • (5) years of hands-on experience working in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance
  • Understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics as well as understanding of hydraulic systems
  • Must either own or be able to obtain basic hand tools required
  • GED or High School Diploma

Tool Repair and Maintenance Technician Skills Needed:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills
