CNC Operator

Light Industrial - Rochester Hills, MI - Full Time

Our client, an established and growing custom machining company located in Rochester Hills is seeking a CNC Operator.  The CNC Operator will operate a CNC turning center to fabricate metallic and/or nonmetallic parts.  The CNC Operator reports to the Team Leader.

The pay range for the CNC Operator is between $41,600 - $62,000 per year.  The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., with overtime during peak periods.

This is a direct-hire opportunity.

CNC Operator Job Duties:

  • Sets up and operates machines on trial and custom piece runs to verify accuracy of machine settings.  Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining
  • Complete part layout verification. Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
  • Ensure all paperwork and log books are completed as required
  • Actively pursue opportunities to reduce cost and improve cycle times and support other teams with cost reduction implementations
  • Assist in developing and maintaining System Build Standards
  • Will also operate a manually controlled engine lathe to fabricate metallic and/or nonmetallic parts to very close tolerances (.001”)

CNC Operator Job Requirements:

  • CNC Turning Center: 3+ years
  • Manual Lathe: 5+ years
  • GED or High School Diploma

CNC Operator Skills Needed:

  • Working knowledge of blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece
  • Complete working knowledge of machine, including back gears, speeds, feeds, threading, and taper attachments
  • Excellent working knowledge of gauges, i.e. dial indicator micrometers, calipers, snap gauges, etc.
